Double Tragedy…😪

The events preceding my mother-in-law’s untimely death were rather strange.

She was a seasoned farmer and business woman. So much into the church business was she, that her entire weekend life revolved around the church activities.

My mum-in-law was a healthy woman. She hardly fell Ill, leave alone got admitted to any hospital. But one day, she began complaining of mild chest pains.

She bought some medicines as prescribed by the physician, and took them to the last pill.

However, the pain persisted and my mum-in-law couldn’t continue with strenuous activities.

As I’d mentioned earlier, she was a seasoned farmer who grew cassava, sweet potatoes, sugarcane, maize, groundnuts, beans, peas and arrow roots.

She also reared livestock such as: poultry, cows, sheep, domestic dogs and a cat.

One day, something unusual happened. Her poultry flock became very sick and all died. 😥😥😭😭

This was so devastating to all of us as a family. But more so to my mum-in-law because that was a huge investment for her.

Meanwhile, my husband, her first son was actively campaigning for the Member of County Assembly of our home ward. He was the most popular and loved candidate.

During the party nominations, one of the opponents was rigged in and we lost the party certificate. My husband never quit his ambition to lead his people.

He sought for another party ticket and continued with his campaigns. Everything was going so well since he managed to win the hearts of majority of the electorates.

The only problem and cause of stress was my mum in law’s illness. It had gotten more serious and her lungs were completely affected by the monstrous cancer!

She was later transferred to the ICU and was on oxygen support. Remember my mum in law had planted all her favourite crops and they were doing so much better than all the other farms in the village.

As we neared the election date, my mum in law’s condition worsened and her pain became unbearable😓😓

It reached a point when our family members refused to update us on mum in law’s condition because we were in the height of campaigns almost election day.

Elections were held and our opponent once again, rigged us out! 😓😓

Our hearts were broken, hopes dashed and finances dried up!

We thought of suing him but the state in which we were, we couldn’t afford the court costs. So we let the issue slide and resumed taking care of mum in law.

Two days after the election day, just a few hours after visiting mum-in-law in the hospital, we received the most astonishing, heartbreaking and shattering news!

My mum-in-law went to be with the Lord 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭.

It was one of the most painful moments of our lives. We couldn’t deal with both a lost election and lost mum-in-law 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

My heart was so heavy, I couldn’t breathe.

Being the first daughter in law, a heavy responsibility suddenly rested on my shoulder after my mum-in-law’s demise.

It was a little too much for all of us.

We had to set aside the heartbreak we experienced losing an election, in order to deal with the huge loss of our matriarch.

Life has never been the same again since mum-in-law rested 😥😥 May God rest her beautiful soul in perfect peace 🤗
